Kit contains 1960's Nordiska print on contemporary linen (Bright Teal Colour), measuring approx 50 x 50cm with 7 skiens of linen threads (colours as shown).
Two printed cards are included: one card with a photograph of the original artwork, an English translation of stitches used, and a brief history of its origins. The other card describes the 24 common stitches used by Nordiska in their kits.
The Swedish embroidery company Nordiska/NIAB was founded in 1879 and designed patterns for over 100 years. Their archive was recently unearthed to reveal thousands of embroidery patterns for all season.
Very few instructions have survived time, therefore these kits invite you to improvise with colours and stitches.
Acorn was drawn and painted around 1966-67 by an unnamed artist in the design studio of Nordiska in Gothenburg, Sweden. In 1970, it was presented in the sales catalogue of The Needlewoman Shop on Regent Street in London, Nordiska’s flagship store out of Scandinavia.
