AM172: Boxy Top Class with Jo Dunsmuir - Saturday 23rd October

The Frankie & Ray box top is a perfectly simple tee shaped top that is generously sized with a cap sleeve, crew neck finished with bias, and drape to flatter every body!
This workshop is ideal for those ready to take the plunge into garment sewing, as a simple sewing experience for those needing a confidence boost to return to garment sewing, or just as a quick and easy make for a versatile addition to your wardrobe!

Made to fit a wide range of sizes and to suit all age groups, this pattern is easily
modified to create a variety of different garments.
Under Jo’s supervision you will be able to make alterations for size or length, or hack the
pattern to add a cuff sleeve, a three quarter elastic cuff sleeve, a gathered ruffle to make a peplum style top, or a gathered skirt and pockets to make a wonderful smock style dress.
Or simply make the top as is as a fabulous alternative to a tee. Recommended fabrics include light to medium weight linen, cotton linen blends, or other dressmaking cottons including lawn and poplin.

Please note, there are no refunds on workshops if you are unable to attend. Please select / book carefully as there will be no exceptions to this rule.

Instructor Name:
Jo Dunsmuir
Instructor Bio:
Jo is the creator and owner of Frankie & Ray, a little business that began life as a
vehicle for Jo's handmade clothing designs sold at design markets, small independent
stores, and online.
Jo is a largely self taught pattern maker and learnt to sew firstly with her grandmother,
and later at school.
She always enjoyed the process, and made clothing for herself to satisfy her desire for
quality fabrics and simple, unfussy design.
A step into the design market world was an extension of Jo?s love of making, and the
belief that good quality fabric in simple designs did not have to be prohibitively
expensive or difficult to access.
In 2017, with the encouragement of Jen Kingwell, owner of Amitie Textiles, Jo released
her first sewing pattern, The Box Top.
This easy to fit, and easy to modify top formed the basis for some sewing workshops,
and was the catalyst for some further pattern releases.
Jo's patterns are purposefully easy to modify in both fit and style, to help women create
a garment that makes them feel great about what they're wearing, and that becomes a
true wardrobe staple.
