AM043: The Art of Slow Stitching with Lisa Mattock
In this workshop, participants will create a textile collage that can ultimately be turned into an artwork, cushion or incorporated into a larger scale quilt. Drawing on inspiration from the Japanese stitching methods of boro and sashiko, Lisa will show participants how to layer fabrics and use the simple stab stitch method to hold them all together. A stitched silhouette can then be added using embroidering techniques. Lisa will also talk about how trims and other embellishments can be used for further effect.
Participants will receive a specially chosen selection of reclaimed textiles, threads and embellishments collected by Lisa over her years of hunting for unique textiles.
Requirements: General hand sewing supplies; needles, threads, scissors, unpicker. Any trims, lace, scraps or beautiful fabrics that you may like to add to Lisa's selections.
