TBC location in Torquay, Victoria. It will be lovely and large, we promise! Due to the scheduled renovations for the Torquay Surf Life Saving club we are unsure of the TBC venue and the capabilities to cater for sewing machines. We would love for our 2020 event to be a hand crafting event with plenty of table space for socializing and cake.
We delight in all craft forms from patchwork to embroidery, crochet to knitting. If it involves some form of stitch then we welcome you to our event. Or just come for the food! We are really wanting our event to be focused on hand work as we'd love to celebrate the social side of Handcrafted 2020.
Two and a half days of uninterrupted crafting, chatting, shopping, eating, creating, dreaming, and sharing.
Fully catered from when the retreat begins on Friday lunch through to its conclusion on Sunday.
Cocktail Party on Friday night at Amitie with a special panel of JKD collective members.
Amitie's inspirational founder and owner, Jen Kingwell on hand throughout the weekend for one on one instruction, advice, trouble shooting or just a chat & a laugh.
Saturday Night Stitch In
A truly wonderful personalised Amitie Gift Pack
Bring along a project or two to keep your hands busy for the weekend.
Whilst we love handwork, sewing machines are welcome and we have power to supply them.
All the relevant tools of your trade; threads, needles, scissors, yarns, fabric... and never fear Amitie registers will be open throughout the weekend for anything you might have forgotten.
Accommodation for the weekend is not included in the cost of the retreat and whilst we are happy to help with suggestions, attendees will be responsible for their own lodgings.
Thankfully Torquay is a vibrant beach town with lots of options for accommodation.
July is the off season so there should be plenty of available choices via popular holiday sites Stayz and AirBnb.
We also recommend getting in touch with Surf Coast Holiday Rentals.
We have included a list here of some of the places we have used previously and can recommend. They span a variety of budgets and sleeping arrangements so hopefully you will find something suitable.
Attendees are invited to enter our 'Post with the Most' competition, heavily inspired by Jen's recent trip to the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Centre.
Each attendee will receive a postcard to embellish, adorn, beautify in their own unique style. These will then be submitted at the time of registration ready for their display debut on the night of the Cocktail Party.
Each entry will go in the draw to win an in store prize valued at $200! The winner will be drawn at random on the night of the Cocktail Party.
All cards will be framed and displayed for the duration of the retreat, ready with silent auction forms available for bids all weekend. All proceeds will be gifted to a local charity.
The adorned postcard must be of the original material received at time of booking.
Embellish your postcard using your chosen craft form. This can be anything! Beading, applique, knitting, crochet, stitchery, textile artistry... Happy stitching!
